In an era when music production can feel hermetically sealed and algorithmically optimized, Abstract Fainter is a necessary rupture—an untuned outburst of joy, chaos, and raw creativity. Recorded live in a garden shed by 5-year-old Arthur Robbins and his dad, Sean Pierce, this 5-song EP doesn't try to disguise its seams. There are no punch-ins, no grid-locking, no pretenses of polish. Arthur's drumming is pure unfiltered instinct—equal parts demolition and celebration—while his vocals leap from murmured mantras to playground shouts. It's the sound of a brain before genre, before shame, before Spotify algorithms whisper "maybe something more chill?"

Abstract Fainter sits somewhere between The Dead C, a YouTube rabbit hole of Japanese noise rock, and an audio diary accidentally left on record. The drumming, wild and unrestrained, feels like the perfect percussive metaphor for a mind unencumbered by structure or hesitation. Sean's accompaniment is endearingly hands-off. His guitar and bass work is a little shaggy, a little sunburnt, always careful not to step on Arthur's toes. The result is not just a document of a child making music—it's a subtle but powerful deconstruction of traditional music and art-making itself, especially the way adults tend to structure, sanitize, or "teach" creativity to children rather than simply making space for it to unfold. There's a philosophy embedded in this chaos: that music, at its core, is a permission slip. A chance to say, do, or bang on whatever you want just because it feels good. Abstract Fainter might not land on traditional scales of musical virtuosity, but it radiates the kind of freedom that trained musicians spend decades trying to rediscover.

Also, some songs are about poop.
